Wildlife National Parks in India

The majestic Corbett National Park is located in the foothills of the Himalayas in the state of Uttaranchal. Covering a total area of 1,200 Sq .Kms, Corbett houses a diverse nature of flora and fauna. There are many firsts attached to Corbett national park.

Amidst the beautiful hill ranges of the beautiful Western Ghats in the picturesque state of Kerala is the Periyar wildlife sanctuary and Tiger Reserve. A beautiful lake passes through the middle of the sanctuary and is the main source of water for its wildlife.

One of India's most popular national parks, Ranthambhore is located in Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan. The park is situated at the place where the Aravali Hill ranges and the Vindhyan plateau meet. Once the favourite hunting ground of the Maharajas of Jaipur, Ranthambhore today boasts of a large Tiger population and is also one of the finest examples of tiger conservation efforts.

Bandhavgarh National Park is located in Umaria district of Madhya Pradesh. Known for its variations in topography, Bandhavgarh National Park is encircled by cliffs and wooded Vindhyan mountains. The topography coupled with the thick forest cover makes Bandhavgarh an ideal track for wildlife habitation.

In India's far east, more than half of the one horned rhinos of the world roam majestically in a bio diversity hotspot called Kaziranga National Park. An UNESCO World Heritage site, Kaziranga National Park is located in the heart of Assam on the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra river.

Bandipur National Park is situated in Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka. Infact, the park is located at the point where the Deccan Plateau rises to meet the wrinkled folds of the Western Ghat mountains. A moderate climate, unique geographical features and the presence of a diverse variety of flora makes Bandipur a veritable paradise for wildlife.

Gir wildlife sanctuary is located in the southwest of the peninsular state of Gujarat. This wildlife sanctuary spreading over an area of 1413 Sq. Kms is the last remaining habitat of Asiatic lions. The picturesque sanctuary is criss-crossed by many beautiful lakes and rivers which are makes Gir rich in sources of water.

The Bharatpur bird sanctuary, officially known as the Keoladeo Ghana National Park is one of the finest places in the world for bird watching. The sanctuary is located at a mere distance of 2 kms from Bhartapur town in eastern Rajasthan. The name Keoladeo is derived from the ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva which stands right in the middle of the park.

Located in Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh, Kanha national park is one of the best places in India to watch the Tiger. Spreading over a sprawling area of 1,940 Sq. Kms, Kanha is surrounded by the spurs of the Mekal. Apart from its diverse flora and fauna for which it pulls wildlife enthusiasts in larhge numbers, Kanha is also famed for its unique topography.
