Day 01:

KOLKATA / Delhi :- Arrive at Kolkata or Delhi airport and transfer to hotel.

Day 02:

KOLKATA/ Delhi : FULL DAY EITHER KOLKATA OR DELHI SIGHT SEEING.LUNCH AND DINNER IN LOCAL RESTAURANT. OVERNIGHTAT HOTEL. OVERNIGHT.

Day 03:

KOLKATA OR DELHI TO BAGDOGRA Transfer to airport to board the flight for Bagdogra. ON ARRIVE BAGDOGRA AND DRIVE TO DARJEELING. (90KMS -2 HRS DRIVE)

Day04:

DARJEELING : EARLY MORNING EXCURSION TO TIGER HILL TO VIEW THE SUNRISE OVER THE HIMALAYA. ENROUTE TO HOTEL VISIT THE GHOOM MONASTARY. AFTER BREAKFAST VISIT HIMALAYAN MOUNTAINEERING INSTITUTE. ZOO, TIBETAN REFUGEE CENTRE. AFTERNOON STROLL IN THE MARKET.

Day 05:

DARJEELING / PELLING. (80KMS) DRIVE TO PELLING FOR 4/5 HOURS. AFTER CHECKIN AT HOTEL , VISIT THE PEMAYANGTSE MONASTARY.

Day 06:

PELLING / GANGTOK ( 118KMS). THE DRIVE TO GANGTOK TAKES ABOUT 5 HOURS. ENROUTE VISIT THE BON MONASTARY AT SOSING, THE ONLY ONE IN SIKKIM.

Day 07:

GANGTOK . SIGHTSEEING OF GANGTOK INCLUDES VISIT TO THE ENCHEY MONASTARY, FLOWER SHOW, INSTITUTE OF TIBETOLOGY, DO-DRUL CHORTEN AND HANDICRAFT CENTRE. LATER WALK THROUGH THE MARKET.

Day 08:

GANGTOK – MARTAM. THE VILLAGE OF MARTAM LIES ABOUT 30 KMS FROM GANGTOK. ENROUTE TO THE VILLAGE FALLS THE RUMTEK MONASTARY , THE MOST FAMOUS MONASTARY IN SIKKIM AND SEAT OF THE KARMAPAS. THE GOLDEN STUPA IN THE MONASTARY CONTAINS THE RELICS OF THE LAST KARMAPA. AFTER VISIT TO THE MONASTARY DRIVE TO MARTAM AND CHECK IN AT THE MARTAM VILLAGE RESORT. THE VILLAGE RESORT IS BUILT AROUND AN OLD FAMILY HOUSE AND FACES RICE FIELDS AND IS IN A VERY NATURAL SETTING. WALK AROUND THE VILLAGE CAN BE INTERESTING.

Day 09:

MARTAM / KALIMPONG. (70KMS) THE DRIVE TO THE TOWN OF KALIMPONG TAKES ABOUT 3 HOURS. KALIMPONG USED TO BE A SMALL SLEEPY TOWN BUT AN IMPORTANT CENTRE OF TRADE BETWEEN INDIA AND TIBET . THERE STILL EXISTS THE WEEKLY MARKET WHERE TRADERS BRING PRODUCTS FROM THEIR VILLAGES AND FARMS AND SELL IN THE MARKET. VISITS TO THE MONASTARY AT DURPIN HILLS AND A BHUTANESE MONASTARY ARE QUITE INTERESTING .

Day 10:

KALIMPONG / PHUENTSHOLING –07 HOURS DRIVE TO PHUENTSHOLING WITH PACKED LUNCH. DINNER AND OVERNIGHT AT HOTEL.

Day 11:

PHUENTSHOLING / THIMPHU BY SURFACE VISIT NEARBY AREA AND AFTER LUNCH DRIVER TO THIMPHU. DINNER AND OVERNIGHT AT THIMPHU.

Day 12:

THIMPU : THIMPHU, BHUTAN’S CAPITAL. IN ITS CENTER IS TASHICHHO DZONG, THE CENTER FOR POLITICS AND RELIGION. DAY EXCURSION OF WANGDI & PUNAKHA. ( 140 Kms -05 Hours approx).

Day 13:

THIMPU – PARO : MORNING VISIT [TRADITIONAL] ARTS AND CRAFTS, THE FOLK HERITAGE MUSEUM, AND THE NATIONAL LIBRARY WHICH HOUSES ANCIENT SACRED TEXTS. THE CAPITOL BUILDING AND THE PALACE OF THE REIGNING KING ARE HERE. VISIT THE MEMORIAL CHORTEN TO HIS LATE MAJESTY KING JIGME DORJI WANGCHUCK, A MULTI-STORIED CHORTEN THAT WILL INTRODUCE YOU TO THE VITALITY OF TANTRIC BUDDHISM. AFTERNOON WE DRIVE TO PARO VALLEY WHICH TAKES ABOUT 2 HOURS ( 60 KMS)

Day 14:

PARO : STAYING THE DAY IN PARO, WE VISIT PARO DZONG WITH ITS BEAUTIFUL MEDIEVAL LOOKING INTERIOR AND COURTYARD. HERE, ALSO, IS THE NATIONAL MUSEUM (TA DZONG), AN UNUSUAL ROUND BUILDING IN THE INTENDED SHAPE OF A CONCH SHELL. BUILT IN 1656, IT WAS THE WATCHTOWER OVER THE MAIN FORTRESS OF PARO DZONG. ON ONE OF THE SIX FLOORS, THERE IS A SPECTACULAR COLLECTION OF ‘THANGKAS’ – ARTWORKS – BOTH ANCIENT AND MODERN PORTRAYING ALL OF BHUTAN’S IMPORTANT SAINTS AND TEACHERS. A DOOR OFF ONE GALLERY LEADS TO THE TEMPLE OF THE TREE OF WISDOM WHEREIN THE HISTORY OF BUDDHISM IS CREATIVELY DEPICTED. AND THERE IS A COLLECTION OF ANCIENT WEAPONS, MANY CAPTURED DURING VARIOUS TIBETAN INVASIONS. TIME PERMITTING.HIKE UP TO TAKTSHANG OR TIGER’S NEST, THE MOST REVERED TEMPLE IN BHUTAN, PERCHED ON THE FACE OF A MOUNTAIN: LEGEND RECOUNTS THAT IN THE 8TH CENTURY, GURU RINPOCHE MADE HIS MAGICAL TRIP FROM EASTERN BHUTAN TO WESTERN BHUTAN ON THE BACK OF A FLYING TIGRESS TO SUBDUE THE EVIL SPIRITS WHO HINDERED BUDDHISM. AFTER DEFEATING THESE LOCAL MOUNTAIN GODS, HE TOOK AN UNUSUAL STEP AND BLESSED THEM AS GUARDIANS OF THE DOCTRINE; HE THEREBY INTRODUCED TANTRIC BUDDHISM TO BHUTAN. TIGER’S NEST IS WHERE HE LANDED AND TODAY IT REMAINS ONE OF MOST SACRED PLACES IN THE KINGDOM.

Day 15:

PARO – KOLKATA OR DELHI KB FLIGHT This morning we fly from Paro to KOLKATA OR DELHI. ONLY ASSISTANCE AND TRANSFER TO HOTEL. EVENING TRANSFER TO AIRPORT FOR ONWARD JOUNREY.
