Punjab The capital of Punjab is Chandigarh and it shares its capital visit with Haryana. Punjab, located in the north west of India, is one of the smallest and the most prosperous states of India. The five rivers Sutlej, Beas, Ravi, Chenab and Jhelum gave it its name ‘punj-ab’ or the ‘land of five waters’. Punjab is certainly a primarily agricultural state and enjoys the natural benefits of fertile soils and abundant waters.

Chandigarh : Chandigarh is the capital of Punjab. In the contemporary times, tourism in Chandigarh is on peak. Nature lovers from different parts of the country flock here to view the beautiful theme gardens of the city. The reservoir of places to see in Chandigarh is very large. There are many places to visit in Chandigarh. It is famous for its Rock Garden, Rose Garden, Leisure Valley, Sukhna Lake, Open Hand Monument, Capitol Complex etc.
Amritsar : Amritsar is known as the city of “GURUDWARAS”. The famous Sikh temple “Golden Temple” or “Harmandir Sahib”, Jalianwala Bagh and many other Gurudwaras are situated here in Amritsar. It is one of the main tourist places in Punjab. The famous Wagha Border is also there in Amritsar where there lies the border of Pakistan and India.

Anandpur Sahib : Anandpur Sahib (the holy City of Bliss) is one of the holiest places of the Sikhs, second only to Amritsar. Located about 95kms north-west of Chandigarh, Anandpur is framed between the Shivalik hills to the east and the Sutlej River farther away in the west, with vast green expanses and profound tranquillity all around. It is closely linked with Sikh religious traditions and history.
Takht Keshgarh Sahib : Takht Keshgarh Sahib, Anandpur Sahib Keshgarh Sahib is the central place of Anandpur Sahib. It is also known as Takht Keshgarh Sahib and is the principal shrine at Anandpur. Kesgarh Sahib Fort was built in 1699. In 1705 the army of Ajmer Chand almost destroyed the fort. The present Gurudwara complex was constructed during 1936-44. Some old weapons preserved as sacred relics from the time of Guru Gobind Singh are displayed in a room.

Fatehgarh Fort : Fatehgarh Fort is situated on the northern outskirts of the town of Anandpur Sahib. Gurudwara Qila Fatehgarh Sahib has the present building constructed during the late 1980’s. The Gurdwara is a two-storey domed building. In front of it is an old well which once served the needs of Fatehgarh Fort.

Best time to visit Punjab : The best time to visit Punjab is form October to March because the weather is cool in these months.
